WordPress is Starting to Look Very Attractive

06 Jun

I use an html code called an internal anchor for footnotes – you click on the number and it takes you to the corresponding note, then click your browser’s “back” button to return to the text. I’ve noticed (and fixed) three posts where clicking on this internal anchor takes you to a footnote in a completely different post. If anyone finds some of these, please e-mail me so I can fix them.

Enough to honk me off. You should see what Blogger does to your html if you click on “preview.”

I don't think a change of platform will fix this issue, I have to say. Ordinarily I would leap at the chance to plug WordPress but as far as I know they don't even have a faulty way of automating this; I hard-code all my links as I do the rest of my HTML, and take various measures to stop hyperlinks duplicating as you've had to do. I can say more about this if you like (and if Blogger doesn't eat it), but as it would be HTML geekery not medieval geekery I'll forebear unless asked.

Usually I just fix it and trundle along when Blogger messes something up but this seems to be affecting posts from some time ago. It's an easy fix – all I have to do is repost, without any edits. I just need people to let me know when they run across it.
